SILC Surface Improvements

RM is a print technique for metal components. First generation RM parts often were characterized by rough and grainy surfaces and a 5µ Ra roughness. Therefore LayerWise has developed the SILC TREATMENT to obtain improved the surface quality.

  • SILC BASIC: a matte, uniform finish (indicative Ra 4-7 µ)
  • SILC MEDIUM: a smooth, uniform finish (indicative Ra 2-3.6 µ )
  • SILC POLISH: a smooth, shining finish (indicative Ra 0.8-2 µ)
  • SILC HIGH POLISH: a smooth, mirror finish (indicative Ra 0.3-0.8 µ)
  • SILC ELECTROPOLISH: a smooth, shining finish that makes it easy to clean parts
