Additive Manufacturing

Metal Rapid manufacturing is an additive fabrication technique for manufacturing metal components. The base ingredients of the process are a 3D CAD file, metal powder, a laser and an elevator-platform.

Every RM process starts with a 3D CAD file which we slice into thin Z-sections. The idea behind Rapid Manufacturing is to construct each Z-section on top of the previous one and thus become a full 3D part. In case of metal Rapid Manufacturing, we deposit thin layers of metal powder and we use a high-intensity laser to melt each successive layer. After each layer, the elevator platform moves down and the 2D melting process is repeated until the full height of the object is reached.
The newest generation of metal RM techniques is based on a FULL MELT of the powder, thus resulting in basically the same material characteristics as the common standards. The full melt is facilitated by break-through innovations in powder, processing and laser technology.
